I really enjoy bacon so I was shocked to find that there was no bacon or any other form of pork on the menu. That’s because 93.2% of people in Jordan are Muslim. In the Islam religion, they have a holy text called the Qur’an that forbids eating any form of pork because it is thought to be unclean.
All the ingredients at McDonald’s are 100% from Jordan and all the meat is Halal approved, meaning the animal was honored during their lifetime and when they got slaughtered. Tons of people in Jordon are boycotting McDonald’s (refusing to buy products) and some people are getting shunned (being deliberately avoided) for going to McDonald’s. That’s because some of the money going to McDonald’s goes to the USA who use the money to support Israel in the war. Over 50% of the Jordanian population are Palestinian and are in favor of an official Palestinian state.
We had a huge lunch that day so we only got snacky things for dinner. I had a peach smoothie, it was very flavorful and I could tell it had real peach in it, not just flavoring. We also got doughnuts that you can not get anywhere else in the world. Rylee, my dad and I had a Mendoza doughnut which was a thick doughnut coated in white chocolate with milk chocolate drizzled over it. My mom had a doughnut filled with dark chocolate that was coated in dark chocolate with white chocolate drizzled on it.

Overall it was really yummy, I really enjoy seeing all the differences between countries.
