We went up the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world! It reaches up to 2,717 ft (828 meters and 830 meters including the tip).
On really tall buildings, they sway with the wind instead of the wind beating against the side. We didn’t feel the tower sway but when our parents went to New York and went up the seventh tallest tower in the world called One World Trade Center, they felt the tower sway with the wind. The construction started in January 6, 2004, it took about six years to build and officially opened on January 4, 2010. The Burj Khalifa is 489 feet (149 meters) taller than the second tallest building in the world which is the Merdeka 118 and is 2,227 ft (679 m) tall. We didn’t go to the top of the tower because you would have to be very, very rich to be able to afford it, but we went to the 124 and 125 floor (out of 163 floors).

Our tickets included really cool facts including that:
- The Burj Khalifa is so that you can watch the sunset from the base of the tower, then get into an elevator right to the top, and watch the sunset all over again!
- If the Burj Khalifa was weighed, the total amount of concrete used in construction of the of Burj Khalifa would equal the approximate weight of 100,000 elephants.
- The amount of steel rebar used for the tower is 31,400 metric tons. Laid end to end this would extend over a quarter of the way around the world.
- Burj Khalifa’s design was inspired by the Spider Lily.
Earlier we went shopping in the biggest mall in the world and bought four Dubai Chocolate doughnuts, one for each of us and two Biscoff doughnuts for us to split in half. We got lost many times!
The shops offered us lots of Dubai Chocolate to sample. We ate the doughnuts while waiting for the fountain show to start, they were delicious! The fountains started dancing and shot up 500 feet (152.4 meters) into the air! It was amazing! Later we went to look around the mall to waste some time (and got lost many times). I bought a necklace that has two dolphins jumping with a heart in the middle and room in the heart for a pearl. The kit has a clam that’s sealed shut, and I had to pry it open with a small tool. Inside there was a small pearl. I washed the pearl to get the clam juice off it then put it in my necklace. We also got stickers for our computers, I got a camel that says Dubai on it.

Once it got dark we went outside to catch our Abra boat which we rented for the night fountain show, because its apparently so busy that you can barely see. The boat went around the whole lake and we got to watch the fountains and the show on the Burj Khalifa. The fountains sprayed us a lot (which I liked).

Here is a video of the show:

Wow! We didn’t know that they made tall buildings to sway in the wind but that makes sense. Auntie Tammy would be freaked out to feel any swaying!
What an interesting necklace! It’s so cool that you had to get the pearl out and place it in the necklace.
And the fountains are incredible, Toby now wants to go to Dubaid to see them
