- Nine months is a long time- what’s the one thing you’ll miss most that you had to leave behind?
The thing I’ll miss most is Clover (our dog) because she is just sitting at the door wondering when we are going to get back, or thinking we just abandoned her. She doesn’t understand that we are also going to miss her and that we are going to come back as soon as we get home. - Is there a country or place you’re especially looking forward to visiting? Why?
The cities that I’m looking forward to most are Tokyo and Paris because tomorrow we get to climb up the Eiffel Tower!
In Tokyo, I’m exited for the animal cafes, because they have like a million! There are all kinds of animal cafes with otters, capybaras, birds, lizards, snakes, dogs, cats, hedgehogs, owls, penguins, pigs, fennec foxes, reptiles, fish, ferrets, meerkats, bushbabies, bearcats, binturongs, kinkajous, guinea pigs, hamsters, lamas, sugar gliders, and flamingos!! - What’s something that scares you a little bit about this trip?
Snorkeling scares me a bit because there are lots of sharks in the ocean. You never know where they’re going to be, behind you, under you, they are everywhere! Once we swam with nurse sharks and stingrays in the wild, but that was different because they are friendly sharks rather than sharks like a great white, tiger shark or bull shark. - What is the one thing you think you’ll be most proud of yourself for doing by the end of this journey?
The thing I will be most proud about, is that I traveled around the world and had so many cool experiences, like eating new food and experiencing new cultures. - What are you most excited to eat on this trip? Is there a food you’re a little nervous to try?
I’m most exited to eat Baumkuchen in Tokyo because in forth grade we learned that Baumkuchen is a German cake that was brought to Tokyo that you make by layering it over and over on a spit. The food that I am most nervous to try is Escargot (snails) because they don’t sound that appetizing. - How bad was the 9 hour flight? Better or worse than you expected?
The nine hour flight wasn’t that bad there were computers on the backs of the seats with movies, games and different activities. We got served dinner options of vegetable lasagna or shepherds pie, and a drink of your choice. I chose vegetable lasagna, both also came with sides of crackers, a salad, cheese, bread with butter, salt and pepper, and of course dessert which was a mini doughnut! the windows mimicked what it would look like outside in Paris so are brains would get used to the time, so it was dark so you could easily sleep. There was also a blanket and a pillow for each person. For breakfast we got a breakfast sandwich which had eggs and cheese, and a drink.
