Rylee’s McDonald’s Review: India

We know that street food in India is not safe for us to eat and we had a big curry lunch, so we needed something small to eat. We decided to go to McDonald’s because it was very close, has safe food, and its our school assignment (my parents say this is the only reason).

We took an Uber to McDonalds and it would have been a short drive if we didn’t get stuck in traffic. For the two days we’ve been here, the traffic and air quality has been terrible. We have to wear the best filtered masks that you can buy because the air is very foggy from all the pollution. Once we arrived, we ordered our food. Brooklyn, our Mom and I got Tandoori Chicken wraps. Tandoori chicken is an Indian dish that is marinated in yogurt and spices, then roasted in a tandoor which is a clay oven. We also got french fries and sprite with bobas in it! Ketchup was free for the first time on our trip but had a weird texture and taste to it. It was kind of watery and see through and tasted like sweet and sour sauce. Our Dad got a Maharaja Mac which was like a Big Mac but with veggie patties made with potatoes, peas, and spices. He also got French fries and Pepsi. There was only three choices of pop and they were Pepsi, Sprite, and Fanta. We got Mango soft serve ice cream but our Dad doesn’t like mango so he got a Choco Crunch McFlurry.

Something different about this McDonalds was that they had Mango soft serve ice cream and ice cream with bobas and Sprite with bobas in it. We ordered on screens like the last few McDonalds and all the tables were upstairs! The bathroom sink had a button on the ground that we could press and hold with our foot, instead of touching a dirty tap. The biggest difference was that they had no beef because many Indians worship cows because cows are considered a symbol of motherhood and life, in the Hinduism culture. It is against the law to eat cows or keep there meat. Someone can have a cow to get milk but not to kill.

On our way back we tried to get a Uber to pick us up again but they were all 15 minutes away and stuck in traffic. We waited but they did not come so we tried getting a different Uber but they were also 15 minutes away. We tried calling our hotel because they said the could give us a drive any time but they did not respond so we just waited and waited and finally they came!
