Rylee’s McDonald’s Review: Vietnam

We were on an 11 hour tour to a war site where we got to enjoy a huge lunch of spring rolls, soup, greens, beef and broccoli and lots more. We ate a huge lunch, so when dinner time came we weren’t very hungry, we decided that we should go to McDonald’s. Our mom and Brooklyn were the least hungry so Brooklyn just got a kiwi smoothie with shaker fries and our mom got a pineapple smoothie with shaker fries. I was more hungry so I got a really good iced peach tea with fresh peaches in it, I also got a McRoyal Deluxe, and shaker fries. The shaker fries had a cheesy powder that we got to mix in with the fries. Our dad got a Big Mac, prosperity twister fries, and a soda strawberry McFizz. He also spotted some Happy chicken bites on the menu and wanted to try them so he got one for each of us. The McDonald’s was 4 story’s and had outdoor patio!

This McDonald’s came to Vietnam on February 8, 2014, then closed again on September 19, 2024 it soon reopened. It closed because McDonald’s was competing against local markets. It was expensive so people realized they could get around 6 meals of local street food for one meal at McDonald’s. So to reopen, McDonald’s had to lower their prices. McDonald’s came so late because the markets were very common and there were other fast food places like KFC, Lotteria, and Jollibee.

Did you know that Vietnamese people celebrate a different New Year called Tết? Vietnamese celebrate Tết on February 17, so people are starting to put up decorations!
