Today we went to McDonald’s for dinner and we noticed lots of differences from the McDonald’s in Canada.
The first thing different we noticed was everything was self serve. You could not go up to the counter and order, you had to order on screens. The machine gave us a number to put on table and they brought out our food.
When the food came we also noticed that the cup, fry container and the bowl were reusable instead of disposable. We thought it was interesting so we searched it up and found out that it was because there was a law in France that all fast food restaurants must have reusable dishes to reduce waste (when eating in restaurant). I ordered a Royal Deluxe which is a burger that has lettuce, tomato, and old fashioned mustard. They let us pick 2 sides, I got a croque McDo which is ham and cheese squished in in-between thinly cut toast and we tried to get special thick fries but they got the order wrong and we got normal fries instead. Sadly they had no salt on them. We also tried the Fondue Fries which came with bacon and cheese on thick fries. They were super cheesy and yummy, similar to poutine but instead of cheese curds it was cheese sauce.
My dad wanted a refill on his drink but we learned that it was illegal for any restaurants to give drink re-fills in France because it is unhealthy.
One other thing that was different was dessert, which we had lemon and chocolate macarons. They were delicious, I liked the chocolate one better.
I liked McDonalds in France better than in Canada.

It does sound better than the McDonald’s we have in Canada! The re-usable containers is a good idea. It’s interesting that it is illegal to give drink refills for health reasons. Uncle Scott wouldn’t like that!
It’s also interesting that they don’t have employees taking orders at a counter, I wonder if it’s like that at other fast food restaurants there?

Hope the burger was good. I didn’t know about desserts. They should get that in Canada especially the chocolate ones. You know how much I like chocolate like you. Hope you enjoyed it.

you are right he was not happy about the no refills that is how we learned that there was no refills because before he went to get a refill he searched it up
