On September 16 we went to Faro and walked through the main gateway Arco da Vila to enter Old Town. We went for a walk around Old Town which was built 2 thousand years ago by the Romans. It is a walled city because they had lots of wars over who controlled the land. Old Town is made with cobble stone streets and giant stone walls.

There are 2 other gateways named Arco do Repouso and Porta Nova which allow people to walk in and out of Old Town. The Arco da Vila gateway had to be rebuilt after a giant earthquake in 1755 destroyed it. We walked under all three gateways on our walk.

We were surprised to see a stork and a huge nest on top of a building. We researched this and found out that Storks are very common in Faro and we saw many other nests.
It was over 30° and really humid and we decided to get some ice cream. I had blueberry cheesecake and a mystery bright blue flavour with marshmallows.
