Rylee’s Visit to the Aquarium and Museums

Aquarium de Paris

On Thursday we went to the Aquarium de Paris. There we saw sea stars, vibrant colored fish, neon fish, fish that can camouflage, all kinds of jellyfish, different kinds of sharks, stingrays, an octopus, lobsters, crabs, eels, sea urchins and koi fish that you could touch! I was surprised because the koi tried to suck on our hands, we suspected that people were feeding them so they thought we had food!

The aquarium had all kinds of different jellyfish. Each of them had a chart showing them how toxic they were. We learned that one of the tiniest jellyfish was the most toxic there! It’s also the first time we have seen zebra sharks and learned they are born with stripes then slowly as the grow the stripes become spots. They get there name because of their stripes!

City Of Science And Industry Museum

One of the exhibits we went to was about sounds. I found a whisper dish on each side of the room and there was a sign that said you can talk to each other from each side of the room through the dishes! It also told us that it works the same way at subway stations (from either side of the train tracks). This is because the shape of the walls are angled toward each other.

Below, you’ll see a table that represents the differences in time it takes for sound to travel in water compared to air. Sound moves way quicker in water (2 seconds) compared to air (9 seconds).

We also went to a dog and cat exhibit were we learned about their behavior and got to interact with games! There was a archway showing how high a cat could jump with buttons and measurements that you could jump up to and press to see how high you could jump compared to a cat. I was surprised to see how high cats could jump!

Paradox Museum

This was a museum of illusions where it was all about angles, mirrors and perspective!

There was a mirror that reflected the floor so you could not see yourself crouching under the table then there was a hole in the plate so you could pop you head out.
Brooklyn was actually laying down and I was standing up. (If you tilt your head you can see me standing up and Brooklyn laying down!)

Wow, sounds like a lot of fun! Toby was fascinated by the paradox museum photos, he didn’t understand how you did them at first.

What was your favourite creature at the aquarium? It’s so neat that the zebra shark’s stripes turn to polka dots.
